Helping physiotherapists and osteopaths help their clients

Finding the common denominator
So many clients we see have been struggling long term with their back pain and yet the majority are also seeking treatment from a physiotherapist, osteopath or chiropractor.
As back pain is so multi-causal and is often due to years of exposure to risk factors, it is often near impossible to tell the main cause of their back issue.
However, one thing is for sure.  It cannot be coincidental that the vast majority of clients I see all have one thing in common.  They are working every day at the computer, often for long hours, and are either perching at the edge of their seat or slouching in one way or another.  Everything is set up to encourage a slouch and the majority of chairs they sit on are either not adjusted properly or just completely wrong for their body.
So if you are a back care specialist and not sure why the techniques you are using just aren’t getting some of your clients better, then it is most likely to be everything to do with their work and not yours!   All your good work will be undone as soon as they return to their desk.  Indeed people will often remark on how their pain eases when they are on holiday, only to come back as soon as they go back to work.
And yet a quick visit to their office, a few simple adjustments and key extra support will help relieve their body of the tension build up that will then enable your good work to be maximised and the recovery process to speed up. Our ergonomic expertise will ensure that everything is set up to optimise comfort levels and release tension and pressure build up on the body.  It is this work together that brings long lasting results.
Our consultations always include a positive focus, re-enforcing the importance of your rehabilitation work, the exercises prescribed, allowing the potential for full recovery and good posture.  It is all about joining up the messages and giving the right education and tools.
The vast majority of people I see with back pain has poor posture at the computer, as we are just not educated on why it is important to have this checked and have your workstation and chair adjusted in a way that suits your own body’s shape and biomechanics.
